Speaker Profiles
Dr Frans August Korb received the a B.Sc. (Hons) (UFS), M.A. Clinical Psychology (Wits), M.B. Ch.B. (UCT), M.Med. Psychiatry (Wits). He is currently in full-time private practice as a Psychiatrist and Clinical Psychologist in Sandton and consults for SASOL. For Life Healthcare he consults at both Baneng Care Centre and Waverley Care Centre. Yearly he has been an invited lecturer at the Departments of Psychology at the University of Johannesburg and the University of Pretoria. He is currently the Board Chairman of the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) and regularly attends and presents at local and international conferences, workshops, courses and CPD Programmes. Currently he is editor of ‘Mental Health Matters’ (Journal for general practitioners on mental health) and on the Editorial Board of ‘Neuron SA’.
Dr Talatala is the previous President of the South African Society of Psychiatrists (SASOP) for 2014 – 2016 and honorary lecturer at the University of Witwatersrand. He also runs a Private Practice in Diepkloof, Soweto. While dealing with all mental health issues, he has a special interest in mood disorders and advocacy. A special focus as President of SASOP is to ensure Psychiatrists engage more with communities and key stakeholders to help network in the best interests of mental health.
Zamo Mbele attended the University of the Witwatersrand, where he completed his Bachelor of Arts degree and later an Honours Degree in the Bachelor of Arts in the faculty of the humanities. Zamo has also expressed his longstanding interest in human sciences, particularly abnormal psychology. He later completed his training as a Clinical Psychologist at the University of the Witwatersrand. Zamo currently works at Tara Hospital and in private practice. Zamo’s professional interests include working with sever psychopathology (including; schizophrenia, bipolar mood disorder, major depressive disorder, borderline personality disorder), dual diagnosis substance abuse patients, trauma therapy, and adolescents.
