SADAG Launches a Mental Health Support Group for Those Living with Neurodiversity
The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) is excited to announce the launch of a new Support Group for those living with Neurodiversity.
According to Cleaveland Clinic, “Neurodiversity” is a word used to explain the unique ways people's brains work. While everyone's brain develops similarly, no two brains function just alike. Being neurodivergent means having a brain that works differently from the average or “neurotypical” person.
Harvard Medical School elaborates, “The word neurodiversity refers to the diversity of all people, but it is often used in the context of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as well as other neurological or developmental conditions such as ADHD or learning disabilities.
The neurodiversity movement emerged during the 1990s, aiming to increase acceptance and inclusion of all people while embracing neurological differences.”
Support Group Leader, Erna launches her Support Group on the 15h of May at 7 PM, The Group meets online, so you can join from the comfort of your own space.
Erna explains why why she is launching this Support Group “I want to create a space where people who think differently or do things in different ways than what society calls "normal" can speak freely and, hopefully, relate to and support each other.”
